1.1 BL: The ugly admirer

The sensation of falling was the first thing that he registered in his newly transferred mission. Someone had thrust his foot as he was walking briskly and the fall had been heavy. His left side, arm, and leg hurt very much from the contact with the concrete.

“Are you okay?” asked a soft voice by his right side, the person hurrying to him, crouching down to help him up.

Opening his eyes, in front of him was a teenage young girl with curly brown hair and catching green eyes. Her expression was one of anxiety as she tried to lift him up. Not sure what he was supposed to do, he murmured a vague incomprehensible thing, ignoring the hand stretched to him, getting up by himself slowly. As he was doing so, information flooded his mind while he was taking in his surroundings. It seemed to be an art classroom. Several painting tools and tables, no professor in sight, for now, three snickering people at the corner by the door, two others were behind their sketching pad, pretending that nothing was happening. One of them glanced at him over her sketch from time to time. The only one who seemed outraged by what happened was the girl who just helped him, Haruka Midori. She was fiercely glaring at the three boys, stating that she wouldn’t forget to inform the professor of their attitude before glancing at him. From the corner of his eye, he could see that she sighed a little and returned to her own sketching pad.

This was a relatively modern world, modeled as the twenty-first century of the earth. The protagonist was the beautiful teenager who inquired about him, Haruka Midori. Happy go lucky girl from the campaign, she got to study in the prestigious Loah’s art high school due to her talents. When she first started, her clothes were mocked for their fashion, but as the years passed by she got used to wearing modern and more feminine clothing, used to the lifestyle here. She fused so well with her surrounding that it could be thought she lived there her whole life. With her confidence, she shut those who mocked her and her talents let her won any competition thrown her way. In rankings, she was always in the five best students and first when considering just the women. This world was about her struggles to be admired and display the talents that she inherited from her late mother. Along the way, she met Murai Akeshi.

He was the incontestable genius of this school. His mother was an international photographer while his father was a famous painter. Akeshi was almost always ranked number one in the school competitions, inside or regionally. He was quite the taciturn person, a bit difficult to approach even for the always smiling protagonist. They had some shared projects which shortened the distance between them. After a few months of knowing each other and various situations, the young man confessed his solitude and the heavy pressure his name was on him. Midori lent him her ears as he blithely talked. Born in an artist family, it was as though they were waiting for him to be great, as though his results were somewhat expected. From the very beginning, everyone expected of him to always be the first and when he was, they said it was a matter of evidence, and when he wasn't, he would be considered shaming his family. He wasn't praised for his efforts because they considered this as a matter of course.

Midori, who knew how much of a hard worker this person was, consoled him and shared some of her point of views in that aspects saying that no matter what, even if no one recognized his efforts, she, she knew how much work he put on them. She praised him, uttering words his parents failed to pronounce for a long time now. Those words, for him who had so much longed for them, made Akeshi tear up and it was a great mark on how their story developed later.

In the end, those two went to the same university and afterward married each other, having two children, a girl, and a boy two years later.

Another important person to note from this world was Akai Setsuna. For a time, Midori had her heart undecided between Akeshi and Setsuna, making this a love triangle. Where Akeshi was cold and taciturn, this person was sunny and forever smiling. Ultimately though, he couldn't win the girl and had been, actually, the one who made sure those two ended together. He brought Midori to Akeshi when the other was planning to go without as much as goodbye in a different country. Poor lad though had a couple of complicated relationships after that, but nothing that ended good, his longing for his true love ever so present in his sculptures.

Now, who was he supposed to be?

He seemed to be Aobara Satori. The transferee of their final year in high school.  A great genius too, who was as good as Akeshi, actually snatching the first place from time to time. He had somewhat of a round body and a deformed face which made him an excellent target for bullying.

Satori was even more taciturn than Akeshi and was unwilling to talk to anyone. The only person he let in, in the end, had been Midori who persistently showered him with kindness. Ultimately, he fell in love with that woman. However, from start to finish, Midori only saw him as a friend and nothing more. Hearing that, the gigantic painting he did of the protagonist as a love declaration was burnt black without taking the time to show her.

Later on, in his life, due to his face and his inability for social communication, even though he was a good painter, he couldn’t make it his career. There weren’t many salons willing to present his masterpieces.

At the end of his rope and with nothing to lose any more after his mother died, he went on a vendetta against those responsible for his face’s state before turning towards the only person he loved. If he couldn’t have her in this life, he will have her in death, or so he thought. He failed to kill Midori though and in the end, was shot in the attempt to free her. The scene Satori saw as his body was falling to its death was that of Midori running towards Murai. And, from the bottom of his heart, he wished someone would have loved him even if only one-third of how much he loved Midori.

Opening his eyes after understanding the global story, his mind was clear now: his target was Aobara Satori. His identity was that of Aobara Satori too.
